Looking for that little something to make this year’s Independence Day more special than those before? Consider thinking big, even bigger than fireworks, and pay a visit to Longwood Gardens. There, one can experience flaming fireworks, flashing fountains, and brilliant colors all choreographed to music from well-known composers and artists.

The Fourth of July’s musical accompaniment celebrates America and Longwood founder Pierre S. du Pont with Founder’s Favorites, a mixture of patriotic, organ, and classical music. But the fun at Longwood is not limited to July 4. Return any summer weekend to see shows like Ladies and Gentlemen…The Beatles, a tribute to the British Invasion, and Gershwin Gala, featuring popular music by George Gershwin.

Those planning to see the brilliant shows are encouraged to bring lightweight folding chairs – after 3pm – to reserve a place in the Gardens for the 9:15pm show. While waiting for it all to begin, visitors can take in the horticultural splendor until the sun goes down, enjoy a meal at the Terrace Restaurant, or picnic in Longwood’s picnic area. Guests are also welcome to attend a the Fireworks BBQ, held before each fireworks show, and enjoy made-to-order burgers and other picnic favorites.

Tickets for both Fireworks and Fountains and the Fireworks BBQ are available now at the Longwood Gardens Visitor’s Center, online at https://tickets.longwoodgardens.org/, or by calling 610.388.5200.
