Battle of the Bartenders
The “Hawaiian Open” Battle of the Bartenders, held on Thursday, June 10, was organized by the Delaware Hospice Golf Outing Committee and graciously hosted by Bar Code of Wilmington. About 150 people attended and helped raise nearly $1,700 to support Delaware Hospice’s programs and services in the community. Read More »

New Bolton Center Celebrates New Facility
Opening gives hundreds of visitors rare chance to see biosecure environment
Nearly 500 visitors toured the new James M. Moran, Jr. Critical Care Center, the latest addition to Penn Veterinary Medicine’s renowned New Bolton Center. Regional veterinarians and staff from New Bolton toured the 18,540-square-foot center on June 2, a formal dedication and ribbon-cutting took place on June 4, and the public was welcomed on June 5. The center is a biosecure facility, and once large-animal patients are being treated there, no non-essential personnel will be allowed. The ribbon was cut by Mrs. J. Maxwell Moran (Betty Moran) of Paoli. The facility is named in honor of Moran’s son, who was a close friend to Penn Vet, and in recognition of his passion for the breeding and racing of thoroughbred horses. Read More »

Barbara Santoro Brunch benefits hospice
The Barbara Santoro Jazz Brunch took place at Harry’s Savoy Grill on Sunday, April 18, 2010. Nearly $50,000 was raised through the generosity of sponsors, guests, volunteers and musicians. The proceeds will benefit Delaware Hospice’s programs and services in the community to help the not-for-profit hospice to provide high-quality care to patients and families, both in their homes and at the Delaware Hospice Center. Delaware Hospice gratefully acknowledges its partnership with Fox and Roach Charities, Prudential Fox & Roach, and the Trident Group, in organizing the Barbara Santoro Jazz Brunch each year. The Wilmington Flower Market hosted the “Viva Las Vegas” Casino Night on March 27 to benefit the many children’s organizations supported by the Flower Market. The “Casino” transformed several rooms at the Deerfield Golf and Tennis Club in Newark into a scene right out of Monte Carlo. Strolling models, provided by Barbizon, enhanced the allure of the event, a cabaret singer entertained the crowd, hors d’oeuvres were plentiful, and guests sipped cocktails while casino chips flew between dealers and guests. Point-to-Point Family activities provide thrills for the littlest riders
Family fun and races filled the fields at the 318-acre Myrick Conservation Center. On Easter Sunday, the Brandywine Valley Association held its 68th Annual Point-to-Point. Featuring a three-mile course and 17 jumps, the races began at noon following a delightful brunch. A total of six races were run in various classes: Small Ponies, Large Ponies, Heavyweight, Novice, Open and Foxhunter. Read More »
