    With a boost from Mother Nature in the form of a gorgeous day on April 3, 2011, the 69th running of the Brandywine Valley Point-to-Point Races attracted nearly a thousand race-goers.   • Talk About Cold Cash

    Polar Bear Plungers raise more than $16,000

    More than 600 people turned out to for the Polar Bear Plunge, and 160 of them actually braved the icy waters of the Brandywine on Feb. 12, 2011. The event raised more than $16,000 for the nonprofit Brandywine Valley Association and increased awareness about the watershed. Temperature at the time was 35 degrees. Read More »

    A wine tasting, Bring Cheers to Delaware’s Children, was held on November 18 at Deerfield Fine Wines in Newark to benefit the Wilmington Flower Market, Delaware’s largest children’s charitable organization. In attendance was the Mayor of Newark, Vance A. Funk, III, who enjoyed discussing the attributes of many of the fine wines from nine regions.     The “Hawaiian Open” Battle of the Bartenders, held on Thursday, June 10, was organized by the Delaware Hospice Golf Outing Committee and graciously hosted by Bar Code of Wilmington.
