Throughout the Brandywine Valley, beer gardens have all but become synonymous with summer. Making the most of the area’s rich craft brewing culture and bucolic landscapes, there are now an abundance of great spots to check out, whether gathering with coworkers, friends or family. From rooftop hangouts to riverfront venues, here are some of our favorite local beer gardens.

 

The Analog Room

Soak up the sun at this rooftop beer garden in the heart of Phoenixville. Located on the second floor of Bistro on Bridge, this funky spot features classic arcade games, live music and a retro Volkswagen bus that was converted into a bar. The Analog Room is open Wednesday through Sunday.

Constitution Yards

Delaware’s biggest beer garden is back with a new axe-throwing venue. Enjoy craft beers, a selection of snacks and sandwiches, plus yard games like corn-hole and giant Jenga at this gorgeous waterfront space. Constitution Yards is open Tuesday through Sunday with extended hours during the weekend.

The Creamery of Kennett Square

Located in the heart of Kennett Square, this 100-plus-year-old creamery building was renovated into a family-friendly beer garden with food trucks, lawn games, live entertainment and an axe-throwing venue. Find local craft beers like Sly Fox Phoenix Pale Ale and Victory Summer Love, among others. The Creamery is open Thursday through Sunday.

Crooked Hammock Brewery Backyard Beer Garden

Headed to the beach this summer? Swing by Crooked Hammock’s outdoor beer garden for a bit of unwinding. Sip some of the brewery’s new beers and enjoy a backyard-inspired menu every Friday through Sunday.

Dew Point Brewing Co.

Located in Garrett Snuff Mill in Yorklyn, Del., this family-owned microbrewery debuted its summer beer garden earlier this season, complete with picnic tables and four permanent taps, making it the perfect spot to shoot the breeze.

The Gables at Chadds Ford Beer Garden

Every Thursday from June through August, the Gables opens its terrace for an evening of outdoor fun. Starting at 6 p.m., visitors can enjoy live music from local artists, lawn games and seasonal beverages.

Levante Beer Garden at Highlands Orchards

Slated to open May 24, Levante Brewing Company’s recently announced pop-up beer garden at Highland Orchards will operate from 12-6 p.m. Friday through Sunday. The garden will be family-friendly and feature Highland’s award-winning baked goods and local produce in addition to Levante’s beers, ciders and hard teas.

Longwood Gardens Beer Garden

Horticulture and beer enthusiasts alike can enjoy this unique beer garden by Victory Brewing Company at Longwood Gardens. Open Thursday through Saturday from 4-9 p.m., guests can enjoy tasty pub fare, a wide variety of refreshing brews, wood-fired pizza, barbecue grill stations and live performances. Timed tickets or reservations for members of Longwood Gardens are required.

Linvilla Orchards Beer Garden

After enormous success during its inaugural season last fall, Linvilla Orchards’ beer garden, created in partnership with Ship Bottom Brewery, is back for the summer. Open every Saturday and Sunday from 12-9 p.m., the newly remodeled space features lawn games, live music, plus limited-edition brews and ales crafted with produce from Linvilla’s farm.

Midnight Oil Brewing Co. Beer Garden

Open every Saturday and Sunday, this beer garden features sustenance from a different local food truck every week along with Midnight Oil’s own craft beers. As an added bonus, the brewery regularly partners with local charities to donate a portion of proceeds so you can feel even better about imbibing.

Mt. Cuba Center Twilight on the Terrace

Nature lovers can sip brews against a beautiful backdrop at this conservation center. On select days throughout the summer, Mt. Cuba will host Brandywine Valley breweries like Dew Point Brewing Company, Wilmington Brew Works and Liquid Alchemy Beverages, plus food trucks and local musicians for its Twilight on the Terrace events. The family-friendly evenings kick off at 5 p.m. on June 21, July 19, Aug. 16 and Sept. 6.

Revelation Beer Garden

This popular Rehoboth Beach, Del. brewery is bringing its beer garden back to the Town of Whitehall in Middletown this summer. Look for 10 brews at two different venues—Whitehall, plus a second location at Hudson Fields, which has both indoor and outdoor seating. Both also feature live music and lawn games and are open Friday through Sunday.
