The words “beer” and “fest” are a match made in heaven, so hops fans should be excited for the inaugural Delaware Beer Fest taking place July 13 at Bellevue State Park in Wilmington, Del.
At the festival, guests can sample beer from local breweries as well as national brands. There will be live music, wares from local artisans and plenty of food from area restaurants and food trucks. When you’re not sipping your favorite pint, challenge friends to a game of giant Jenga, beer fest trivia or corn hole.
There will be over 25 breweries at the event, including Big Oyster Brewery, Crooked Hammock Brewery, Bellefonte Brewing Company and Iron Hill Brewery. Food purveyors include Cajun-Sno, Uncle John’s BBQ, The Little Guy That Cooked, Ole Tapas and Koi on the Go.
In addition to beer tasting, there will also be a 5K race ahead of the festivities. The Triumph Over Trauma 5K allows runners and walkers to participate with the option to join a charity fundraising team to help support the Trauma Survivors Foundation’s mission to provide hope to survivors of traumatic events and help first responders through crisis intervention and training. Every runner over the age of 21 will be given a discounted price to attend the beer fest, a commemorative pint glass and one free beer.
VIP tickets are $55 and include early admission from 12-1 p.m., plus a commemorative beer tasting mug, unlimited beer samples, a Delaware Beer Fest T-shirt and an entry for a chance to win a Caribbean vacation worth $3,600. General admission tickets cost $45 and allow access from 1-5 p.m., in addition to a commemorative beer tasting mug and unlimited beer samples. Designated driver tickets are $15, and drivers must be at least 21 years old. The ticket includes one bottle of water voucher and one soft drink voucher. A portion of the ticket price is tax-deductible and proceeds benefit The Trauma Survivors Foundation, The Wilmington West Rotary Club, The Ministry of Caring Millennials Committee and the 302 Phalanx Foundation.
