Now in its fourth year, Kennett Brewing Company is celebrating the start of summer with its annual block party. Taking place outside the brewery, the June 22 event kicks off at 5 p.m. The family-friendly party features live music, food and a new brew release.
Eclipsing its popularity year after year, the event will move from its previous location in the alley next to Kennett Brewing Company to the back parking lot. In addition to accommodating more people, there will also be a larger stage and more bands, with performances by Afrobear, Bones Brigade, Mason Porter, Ther Sermon and Joe Hillman.
“The party is a family-oriented concert. It’s really just to have fun and to be outside,” says KBC owner Jossy Osborne. In keeping with the family-friendly theme, there will be no shortage of kids’ activities including face painting, an obstacle course and arts and crafts. Handmade wooden lawn games like corn hole and ring toss will also be on hand.
Food will be plentiful and summery with the pay-as-you-go selection featuring a special menu of lobster rolls, barbecue and grill favorites like burgers, hot dogs and bratwursts. Beer-infused cupcakes made by Kate Osborne, Jossy’s daughter, will also be available. Look for Kennett Square’s beloved Michoacana to serve up its unique ice cream flavors, as well.
KBC will also unveil a specialty beer at the block party, with attendees having the chance to name it. Tart and refreshing with just a hint of sweetness, this year’s brew is a juicy IPA made with guava and strawberry.
Tickets for the block party are $10 and include one beer. Designated driver and under-21 tickets can also be purchased for $5.
