With stay at home orders in place for large portions of the country, including much of eastern Pennsylvania, Americans have been getting creative in the kitchen. Traditionally offering food tours that showcase the culinary prowess of Kennett Square, Taste Kennett is switching things up for home-bound area residents during the pandemic with its food box.

Supporting borough businesses, the box contains satisfying treats from seven restaurants and food purveyors. Here’s what to expect:

  • A crowler of beer from Kennett Brewing Company
  • A bottle of house-made sesame dressing from Lily’s Asian Cuisine
  • A seven-ounce jar of portobello mushroom tapenade from the Mushroom Cap
  • A 12 ounce bag of Ceremony Spring Blend 2020 coffee from Philter
  • A pint of house-made granola from Talula’s Table
  • Three iced tea mixes from Mrs. Robinson’s Tea Shop
  • Four caramel chip chai cookies from Mary Pat’s Provisions

Inside is also a gift certificate for two medium size scoops of ice cream from La Michoacana.

The box is $84.99 and $5 from each order will go to Kennett Area Community Service’s food pantry. This is the first of what Taste Kennett anticipates being a series of food boxes, with future dates and boxes—potentially with different items—tentatively planned for Father’s Day and Independence Day weekends.

Orders for the first box—which will be delivered May 29—must be placed by May 27 and are open to those living within a 10-mile radius of downtown Kennett Square.
