Wondering what to wear this summer? Embrace the bright.
Neons, pinks, oranges, turquoise, and citron, a yellow with green tones, are the colors you will see in your favorite shops this summer. These colors appear in clutches and handbags, belts, jewelry, hair accessories, and even scarves.
So don’t be too quick to throw your scarves in that box marked “Winter Stuff.” They will be a must-have this spring. Scarves can be worn throughout the year, especially if it’s a Murfee scarf.
These scarves are a silk-cashmere blend and fit everyone. Lilly Pulitzer, a boutique located in King of Prussia and also Suburban Square in Ardmore, specializes in these signature scarves as well as Murfettes, which are half the width of the Murfee.
Store manager of the King of Prussia location, Courtney Bird, can help you select your own stylish print. “The opportunities for the Murfee are endless,” said Bird. “It’s a perfect one-sized gift, and an absolutely adorable way to spruce up an otherwise bland outfit!” Mari Bell, owner of Pink Lily, a boutique in Kennett Square, said that silky scarves are even being used as belts.
If you’re thinking about what style of belt to include in your wardrobe, try a high-waist belt. High-waist belts go great with a hobo clutch, your neutral clutch or even a “Day Clutch.”
“The ‘Day Clutch” is a huge trend this spring, showing that clutches aren’t just for nights out,” said Ashley Seiden, the owner of Apricot Lane in Ardmore. “Available in larger sizes and assorted colors and fabric, they can be a substitute for your everyday bag.”
Of course you want your handbag to compliment your jewelry, right? Try adding something new, simple or chic, like bangles, layered necklaces, beaded necklaces, classic studs, or fun colorful bracelets into your unique style.
Mixing metals with colored stones could also add some spice to your outfit– and your shoes. According to Seiden, “Footwear trends include embellished flat sandals, wedges, metallic heels and patterned ballet flats.”
For a simpler look, try a hair feather. They have a great way of making your hair pop. And on bad hair days, or just a day at the beach, a straw fedora is nice to have for style or for keeping the sun out of your eyes.
Staying stylish this summer is easy to do. Just remember to keep it bright and add your own flavor.
