Christiana Mall gets a chic makeover this April with a brand-new anchor store. The first Delaware Nordstrom will join the other 26 East Coast stores by opening its doors on April 8 at the Christiana Mall.
Known for its superior customer service and large selection of high-fashion products, Nordstrom, Inc. is among the top leading fashion specialty retailers in the nation. From its humble beginnings as a shoe store in Seattle in 1901, Nordstrom has grown into a fashion empire, operating 208 U.S. stores in 28 states. It is guided by the principles to “offer the customer the best possible service, selection, quality and value.”

The Nordstrom in Christiana Mall boasts 123,000 square feet on two levels, including men’s and women’s apparel, kids and baby apparel, shoes, and beauty and fragrance departments.
“When we open our doors on Friday, April 8 at 10 a.m. customers will find five shoe departments, a new restaurant concept called Sixth & Pine, an espresso bar, expansive cosmetics and accessories areas and a comprehensive offering of top brand names, and exciting designer collections, for women, men and children,” says Store Manager Terisha Johnson. The store features complimentary stylists and on-site alterations.
Christiana Mall has undergone a recent expansion, in hopes of alluring more shoppers to an appealing retail experience.
“I think Nordstrom will do well at the Christiana Mall,” says frequent Christiana Mall shopper Megan Kempel. “The mall always seems to be crowded and every new store that has been added has seemed to do well. Also, Nordstrom is a department store that offers higher-end shopping, which I feel lacks in this area.”

Nordstrom hopes to charm Christiana Mall shoppers with its fashion and beauty products.
“We’ve been wanting to open a store in Delaware for some time,” says Johnson. “We are excited about having the opportunity to connect with our new and existing customers in the Delaware community and we seek to build long-lasting relationships over time.”
Shoppers like Megan Kempel believe that Nordstrom will create charisma with its new opening.
“I always have a great experience shopping at the Christiana Mall. With all the new restaurants and stores that have been added, Christiana really has a lot to offer for everyone,” she says. “I believe that Nordstrom will only be an asset to the Christiana Mall and that it will do very well.”
