Wilmington enlarges the idea of live theater with the new play “10 Months,” which is told from the point of view of your neighbors, community leaders and voices from the past.
Presented by The Delaware Theatre Company (DTC), “10 Months: The Wilmington Voices Project” is an original production conceived and directed by DTC Artistic Director Anne Marie Cammarato. It stars Ben Cherry (2004’s “Forever Plaid” and 2005’s “The Nerd”), Taïfa Harris (2005’s “Winter Wonderettes”), and Erin Moon (2008’s “Mary’s Wedding” and 2006’s “The Turn of the Screw”). The production features three live actors playing six characters, all intermingled with interviews and video footage of Wilmington.
“10 Months” runs March 17-April 4. Tickets are $30 in advance and $35-$49 depending on the performance day and time, with special discounts for students, seniors and groups of 10 or more. To purchase tickets, call the DTC box office at 302.594.1100, check online at www.delawaretheatre.org or go to 200 Water St., Wilmington. This play is best enjoyed by audiences ages 15 and up.
Created as an emotional experience rather than a factual documentary, the play inquires: “How does our city define itself? What can happen to a community in 10 months’ time?”
“We wanted to understand opinions, memories, ideas, and impressions from ordinary people,” said Cammarato. “We wanted to hear the stories behind the facts, and allow them to join together as a snapshot of our town. Suddenly, there was personal drama in historical events.

Audiences will have their voices heard when Neill Archer Roan and Wendy Roan of The Roan Group come and facilitate a week’s worth of talk-backs following seven performances scheduled from March 24 through March 28. During this week, the talk-back will serve as a second act of this currently one-act show, adding approximately one hour to the performance.
DTC’s Junior Board of Directors will host its Young Professionals Night on Thursday, April 1. Young professionals ages 21-35 will enjoy a fun and casual pre-show cocktail hour in the DTC Gallery at 6:30pm followed by the 8pm performance of “10 Months: The Wilmington Voices Project.” The evening’s refreshments will be provided by Harry’s Seafood Grill, Cosi, and Dogfish Head Brewery.
