At Willowdale, it’s all about the races. Revel in a day of frivolity and competition at the 22nd running of the Willowdale Steeplechase. According to Willowdale, ?competition is the name of the game?!

Enjoy a variety of races from the frisky yet fierce Jack Russell terrier races to the small and large pony races. The junior horse competition features older racers, ages 16 to 18. Finally, six signature steeplechase races attract some of the best horses in the sport competing for more than $75,000 in purse money.
Spectators can participate in the Tailgate Competition. Judging is based on four criteria: adherence to the theme, presentation, quality of food and use of local ingredients. This year’s tailgating theme is ?An English Country Afternoon,? so prepare to bring your best from ?across the Pond.? If you don?t want to pack your own spread, Willowdale also offers tailgating packages that you can purchase in advance.

Willowdale Steeplechase offers fun for the whole family. The Kid’s Alley Activity Tent keeps children entertained as they create stick ponies to race for ribbons. They can also learn about the science behind both human and animal health.
Other activities on race day range from an antique car show to a horse and carriage parade and display. Upscale shopping is available at the merchandise tent.
