A Day in Old New Castle

Share

Take part in the oldest home and garden tour in the United States – “A Day in Old New Castle.”

This once-a-year opportunity lets you immerse yourself in the life of a Colonial capital and river port as you stroll through carefully tended gardens and tour exquisite private homes, dating from the 18th century, that reflect the history of Old New Castle. You’ll also visit historic public buildings, including the Old Court House, the Amstel House, the Dutch House and the Read House. Enjoy antique cars such as Rolls Royce and Bentleys.

Learn about the role of New Castle in Delaware and U.S. history through exhibits, plays, and lectures; enjoy period music and dance; and experience the beauty of traditional Choral Evensong sung by the choir of Immanuel Episcopal Church on the Green.

Tickets are $20 for adults ($15 if purchased before May 19) and $7 for children 7 to 12. Park at the First Baptist Church parking lot, at the intersection of Delaware Routes 141 and 273/9; shuttles will run all day.
