The Biggs Museum of American Art presents an exhibit that traces the local Delaware art scene from Wilmington to Milton and honors outstanding local artists.
Represented artists, who are named fellows, include painters, writers and even a choreographer. Award Winners helps the Dover, Del., museum make the community more aware of both the museum itself and art. According to the museum, the exhibit also ?traces the evolution of the local art scene in Delaware and is presented to the public with hopes of encouraging conversation, comparison, debate and reflection of the diverse nature of work being created in Delaware.?
The museum partners with the Delaware Division of the Arts (DDOA) to showcase the artists who have received the DDOA’s annual Fellowship prizes. The kick-off date is Friday, August 2, 2013, when the museum hosts a First Look pARTy from 5pm to 7pm. An awards ceremony takes place on Saturday, September 14, 2013, and you can meet the artists and enjoy musical performances and a poetry reading by some of the fellows.
The Biggs Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday; 9am, until 4:30pm, Sunday; 1:30pm until 4:30pm, year round. Admission is free, although fees may apply to certain programs and special events.
