Benefit Polo Match for Injured Jockey

Share

Ride with a cause as The Brandywine Polo Club hosts a benefit polo match on July 17 for wounded jockey Jake Chalfin.

Chalfin was severely hurt when he fell at the Blue Ridge Fall Races on September 18, 2010 in Berryville, Va. As a result of his extensive injuries, Chalfin is now paralyzed from the chest down and is facing significant long-term expenses in excess of $1 million that is needed for his care. A group of close friends and family members established a charity, Chasin” for Chalfin, to help fundraise money for the continued medical expenses.

The event is sure to be a fun one as attendees can expect to see vendors, an antique car show, a special “Jockey Chukker” featuring local steeplechase jockeys, polo with the professional players of Brandywine Polo Club, and a carriage parade during the champagne divot stomp. Immediately following the award ceremony, the BBQ, open bar, and live band will begin. The 50/50 raffle will be announced at 6:30pm.

Gates open at 1pm and the match starts at 3pm. Tickets are $40 in advance or $45 per person on the day of the event. Guests are encouraged to bring a picnic to enjoy before the BBQ starts at 5:30pm. A limited number of field-side tailgate spots are available for an additional $20.
