Two elementary school principals are challenging one another in a fundraising effort to support the Brandywine Valley Association (BVA).
The Hillendale Elementary School and Unionville Elementary School communities join together as school principals Steve Dissinger and Clif Beaver face off to raise money — and try to earn the right to stay dry — for the BVA’s Polar Plunge.
Dissinger and Beaver signed up to take the BVA’s Polar Plunge on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at the Brandywine Picnic Park along with other school staff members. Students try to keep their principal warm and dry by donating to a donation bucket found in their school office. The principal who collects the most donations gets to stay dry; however the other must take the daring plunge!
Presented by The North Face, The Brandywine Polar Plunge is one of the BVA’s major fundraisers, benefitting the environmental education programs that reach nearly 13,000 school students per year. The mission of the BVA is to promote the restoration, preservation, conservation and enjoyment of the natural resources of the Brandywine Valley through education programs, environmental studies and projects, and technological advocacy.
Fundraising is encouraged! Participants can collect donations from friends, family and co-workers, in exchange for jumping into the icy water in the middle of winter. Team participation is encouraged.
