The 21st annual Howard M. Smith Diamond State Masters Regatta takes place July 23 and 24 on Noxontown Pond near Middletown, Del., which is considered to be one of the top venues for rowing in America. The event adopts a two-day format this year to mitigate the effect of summer thunderstorms, which have plagued the event in recent years.
More than 1,000 master rowers, both men and women, will compete in 96 events on the 1,100-meter, six-lane course. The more relaxed two-day schedule allows rowers to enter multiple races. The races take place from 9am to 4pm. Refreshments are available, and parking is free. For more information, visit www.diamondstatemasters.com.
