Have you ever wondered what the world looks like from the outside?
The Philadelphia Museum of Art presents “Great and Mighty Things”: Outsider Art from the Jill and Sheldon Bonovitz Collection. With more than 200 works of art, ranging from drawings to sculptures, one can explore the artwork of artists working outside of the confines of modern and contemporary art. Although the collection focuses on untrained artists, some big names like William Edmondson, Martin Ramirez, and Bill Taylor are included in this exhibit.
Outside art is a term used not only to denote artist that use unconventional methods and mediums in their work, but also an artist that tends to draw from their own deeply personal experiences. If you are the eccentric type or are a generally curious person, this exhibit is for you!
