Exhibit Exemplifies American Art

From American landscapes to modern portraits, the exhibit American Masters displays artwork representing more than 100 years. From April 16, 2010 to May 22, 2010, Somerville Manning Gallery features the work of well-known American artists such as the Wyeth Family, Georgia O”Keefe and Bo Bartlett.

"Bayside Marblehead" by Maurice Prendergast is one of the works featured in the exhibit.

The Wyeth Family is known for their artists. Patriarch N.C. Wyeth tended to work with drawings and is best known as an illustrator for children’s stories; his son Andrew worked mainly in watercolors. Jamie Wyeth, Andrew’s son, focuses on non-human subjects and landscapes.

Georgia O”Keefe is known for her abstract take on natural landscapes and flowers. Bo Bartlett is a modern painter who attempts to find beauty in the daily life. His paintings almost always feature a female subject.
