Share

With spring coming up, parents are planning perfect family-friendly events.

They don?t have to worry because The Delaware Center for Horticulture (DCH) has the perfect solution. DCH is hosting several events geared toward children ages 4-10. The DCH’s make-and-take series, Family Fun, features garden walks, crafts, and stories.

Some of the events include a Natural Egg Dyeing Event. Kids learn all about how to dye eggs the natural way, with Education Coordinator Miss Emily. Each family uses common foods and flowers to dye a dozen eggs to hide at home. The event is on March 16 from 10 to 11:30am. It’s $18 for members and $28 dollars for non-members.

The ECO-Papermaking Event has kids celebrating Earth Day by using trees and plants to produce everyday food, wood, and paper. Come learn the process of turning seeds, leaves, petals, and old paper scraps into unique pieces of paper. Each family makes several sheets of homemade paper. The event is on April 6, from 10 to 11:30am. It’s $18 for members and $28 dollars for non-members.

Grow Your Own Pizza Event lets kids learn the secrets of keeping container gardens beautiful all summer long and get a great pizza recipe to make, using plants grown in your pizza container garden. Each family makes one pizza container garden. Soil, plants, and goodies are supplied. Bring a 12- to 18-inch container with drainage holes. The event is on May 18 from 10 to 11:30am. It’s $18 for members and $28 dollars for non-members.

Supplies and materials are included, and dress for messy fun. Space is limited so register at http://www.thedch.org/ or call 302.658.6262. Don?t miss out on some fun with your kids while embracing the springtime.
