Fiber Revolution – The Quilt as Art

Share

You”ll warm up to an interesting display of art quilts at the Delaware Center for the Contemporary Arts. Fiber Revolution runs from February 5 – March 25 and features unique creations from artists such as Toni Hall, Melissa Craven Fowler, Barbara McKie and Virginia Abrams. An opening reception takes place February 5 from 5:00-9:00 PM.

Art-quilt designs are created through a variety of techniques, from dying and cutting the fibers to stamping and fusing the different pieces together. Finally, the fabrics are stitched together, creating a dimensional product as fascinating as an actual painting. These quilts are not meant to drape over the edge of a bed, but rather serve as wall décor, to intrigue and captivate.
