The recent devastating tornadoes in Oklahoma have generated an outpouring of both grief and support around the country for the many victims of these natural disasters. In order to help those affected, the Chadds Ford Gallery in historic Chadds Ford, Pa., has decided to sponsor a unique event that combines great art with fundraising to assist the families now trying to rebuild their lives.
The Sunset Plein Air Exhibit will be held on Friday June 21, 2013 from 4pm to 8pm at the Chadds Ford Gallery, 1609 Baltimore Pike (Route 1), next to the Brandywine Prime restaurant. Noted local and nationally recognized artists will set up their easels and paint in an outdoor (?plein air?) setting. Attendees will have a unique opportunity to watch artists in action as they create beautiful works depicting the local landscape. The Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association (MAPAPA) promotes the art of outdoor painting and is pleased to welcome Jacalyn Beam, Roger Dale Brown, Valerie Craig, Beverly Ford Evans, Paul Scarborough and Robert R. Stack as participants.
Admission to this event is free. Participating artists will sell their works, with 10% of all proceeds donated to the American Red Cross – Central Oklahoma Relief Fund. Outside donations are also welcomed. Please join us on Friday June 21st for what surely will be both an interesting cultural and a great humanitarian effort in helping our fellow citizens in Oklahoma.
