That voice … those stories … Who would miss an Iris DeMent show? Iris DeMent will be performing for one night only at the Arden Gild Stage Hall on Friday January 28, 2011. Her unique voice and lyrical style take you back but her stories are openhearted tales of current and timeless events.
From her 1992 debut album Infamous Angel to the latest Lifeline, DeMent’s folk songs and country-style narratives touch on universal experiences and emotions. Her voice, which has a charmingly old-fashioned phonograph sound, has complemented singers such as Emmylou Harris and John Prine.
“We are thrilled that Iris was willing to make Arden a stop on her latest tour,” said Ron Ozer, chair of the Arden Concert Gild.
The show begins at 8pm with the alternative rock sound of local favorite, the Leslie Carey Band. Tickets are $22 for Arden club members and $27 for all others.
