For the first time in years, after a prolonged absence from the art world, John Kurtz, known for his rug designs, will display his personal artwork at New Moon rug gallery in Wilmington, Delaware.
Kurtz, a Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts graduate and a painter, traveled to Florence to study at the Accademia di Belle Arti and was a combat artist in Vietnam. After he returned to the states, he had exhibitions in Philadelphia, Toronto and New York. But he withdrew from the art world and stopped exhibiting.
Now he has decided to exhibit his work from the past 25 years.
The exhibition will open Friday, May 21 from 6-9pm with a VIP invitation-only reception and then will open to the public from Saturday, May 22 through Saturday, June 5. New Moon rug gallery is located at Trolley Square, 1901 Delaware Ave., in Wilmington.
