Few festivals still offer a high level of good, old-fashioned summer fun. Come with your family or friends to Kutztown Folk Festival in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch Country and enjoy a range of local crafts, foods, and entertainment!
For the 64th year, Kutztown Folk Festival, the oldest folklife festival in America, proudly offers visitors various ways of experiencing and interacting with folk culture. USA Today named it one of America’s Top Celebrations, the Washington Post considered it a ?must see,? and National Geographic featured it twice.
The festival hosts an outstanding range of 200 juried folk artists and traditional American craftsmen who exhibit their skills and sell their fine works. Quilts ? with more than 2,000 presented for sale, an auction of the finest prize-winning quilts, quilting bees, and presentations ? are a key component of the festival’s crafts. In addition to shopping and craftsmanship demonstrations, the festival provides visitors with six entertainment stages, guides to different aspects of folklife, and fun kids activities. Entertainment includes live music, fiddlers, country dancing, live theater, and a country auction. Folklife guides show visitors a Mennonite meeting house, early farming, an antique wagon, buggies, and a Civil War camp, as well as teaching participants about local herbs, foods, clothes, and legends. Kids can enjoy live shows at the Children’s Farmland theater, brave the hay maze, play games, go on the horse-driven carousel, and enjoy the farm animal petting zoo.
The festival offers Dutch delicacies, such as ox roast and all-you-can-eat feasts, Farmers Market treats, and more traditional fair foods, such as funnel cake and pretzels.
