Attend one of the most unique equestrian events in the country, as well as one of the most elite social gatherings in Chester County, Pa. The 25th Annual Laurels at Landhope International Combined Driving Event, a weekend of equine competition, live music, food, and shopping, features many fun events that appeal to a variety of interests. The event’s theme “Where Sporting Families Meet,” welcomes everyone but especially connects Chester County residents, both those deeply invested in the equestrian world and those merely interested in celebrating the Laurels with stimulating competition, beautiful scenery, and family fun.
Elite local equestrians, knowledgeable fans, and novices alike watch the world’s top drivers compete in the National Four-In-Hand Championship, along with competitions in preliminary, intermediate, and advanced divisions. Equestrian events also include a competition in dressage on Friday from 8am-5pm, a cross-country marathon on Saturday from 9am-3pm, and tests in speed and precision with cones on Sunday from 9am-2pm.
The event also welcomes a variety of artists from throughout the Brandywine Valley on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to exhibit and sell their work. Another unique and local shopping opportunity throughout the weekend includes the Trade Fair, an expansive selection of boutiques selling high-quality goods such as jewelry, clothing, antiques, horse- and dog-themed gifts, horse and farm equipment, and a variety of collectibles.
Children also enjoy their weekend at the Laurels. On Saturday and Sunday, kids can participate in face painting, games, and crafts. Live music from the Barbone Street Jazz Band adds to the fun. The music and dancing continue on Saturday night during the Silver Anniversary Extravaganza from 6:30 to 11:00 at the Laurels. Tickets for this celebratory night of dinner and drinks cost $40 per person.
