Rich wine, sophisticated music, delectable food, and friendly competition all help a good cause while creating a foodie paradise.
The MidAtlantic Wine + Food Festival has unveiled its full schedule of 44 events celebrating fine wine, gourmet food, premium spirits and craft beers, all taking place in venues that stretch from the Brandywine Valley to Delaware’s Culinary Coast.
The second annual festival benefits nine major arts organizations in Delaware, including the Kent Country Fund for the Arts. New this year, the Festival Village will be open on Rodney Square in Wilmington from Friday to Sunday.
International chefs and winemakers will be on the scene at the Festival Village for demonstrations, and wine, beer, spirit and food tastings will be offered.
Tickets for all events, ranging from $25 tickets to the Festival Village to $1000 private dinners, are now available for purchase here.
The climax of the festival is the Gala Winemakers Dinner + Live Wine Auction, held at the Hotel DuPont Gold Ballroom on March 9, for which five local chefs and five international chefs collaborate on five courses. Tickets are $250.
Other events include a dinner prepared by reality show ?MasterChefs? contestants hosted in the Bonz Restaurant at Harrington Raceway & Casino, at 6:30pm on March 8. Attendees get close and personal with seven past contestants as they prepare bites of food that everyone enjoys. Tickets are $75 per person. VIP tickets, which are $125, admit holders at 5:30pm, and give them access to how these chefs prepared their meals.
Jay Caputo, a James Beard Best Chef award nominee, prepares a seven-course meal in his home in Foxden Farm, Dover, something no one should pass up. His wife, Beth, and the Hon. Myron Steele, Chief Justice of the Delaware Supreme Court, host the event on March 9 at 7pm. Tickets are $375 per person.
Taste the best of the best at the 1,000 Point Wine Tasting, where the most discriminating wine lovers taste 10 wines that each have received a perfect 100-point rating. Tickets are $500 for this March 9 event at the Hotel du Pont Green Room.
With the help of visiting chef Hugo Uys, who collaborates with chef Tom Hannum, Buckley’s Tavern serves the flavors of South Africa at lunch on March 7. Tickets are $50.
