Visit the mushroom capital of the world, Kennett Square, Pa, to celebrate its number one cash crop. This small town produces 65 percent of mushrooms grown in America. Every year, on the weekend after Labor Day, almost 100,000 mushroom enthusiasts gather at the festival to enjoy grilled, fried, or sautéed mushrooms in a variety of dishes.
The festival stretches a mile and features culinary events, mushroom-growing exhibits, farm tours, children’s entertainment, and nearly 200 vendors. There’s also an antique and classic car show, a parade, and carnival activities, all dedicated to this fancy fungi.
The Mushroom Festival offers three parking lots (parking is $10/car) with shuttle buses to take you to the Street Fair. Lawn signs direct visitors to the parking lots as they near town. Click here to learn more.
