Culinary events, more than 200 vendors, exhibits, guest chefs, and farm tours are just some of the ways this festival celebrates all things mushroom.
Held annually in Kennett Square, the festival has been named one of America’s best food festivals by Gourmet Live and draws 100,000 visitors. Contests — new this year is a fried mushroom eating contest — games, and live music are just part of the fun. And, of course, mushrooms are prepared in every conceivable way, from ice cream to international cuisine.
The region has long been known for its mushrooms; farms in the southern Chester County area grows 65 percent of America’s mushrooms. On Sunday, a 5K run/walk takes participants through the Red Clay Valley, where mushrooms are grown.
