Plantation Field International Horse Trials

Share

Equestrian events have always been an integral part of Chester County’s rich landscape and tradition, and the Plantation Field International Horse Trials tops the list.

Phillip Dutton on the aptly named Inmidair won the 2009 CIC***.

Held on the beautiful property of Mr. and Mrs. Cuyler Walker, located near Cheshire Fox Hounds on Route 82, the three-star event was started by avid horseman Denis Glaccum. It attracts top international-level riders, who will compete in dressage, cross country jumping and show jumping.

In addition to the equestrian excitement, spectators of all ages will enjoy shops, food, entertainment and a kid’s corner, complete with a petting zoo.

Highlights are the parade of Mr. Stewart’s Cheshire Foxhounds and the amazing celebrity bareback high jump class, both starting at noon on Sunday.

A parking/grounds pass is $20 per car per day and gives full access to the 300+-acre site. Upgraded VIP/premier parking options are available onsite and online.

A portion of the proceeds from the event will be donated to The Barn at Spring Brook Farm (www.springbrook-farm.org), a local nonprofit organization that helps children with disabilities receive physical therapy by interacting with the animals on the farm, including miniature horses, donkeys, sheep, goats, and rabbits.

The Spring Brook Farm animals will be there Saturday and Sunday.
