Polo Match and BBQ Benefit Jake Chalfin

Share

A polo match at the Brandywine Polo Club that benefits Chasin for Chalfin, the Jake Chalfin Beneficiary Trust,  includes an antique car show, a jockey chukker and a post-match barbeque.

Jake Chalfin was paralyzed as a result of a steeplechase spill.

Gates open at 1pm and the match starts at 3pm. Browse a variety of vendors — including artist Gerald W. Harris, MacDougall’s Irish Victory Cakes, Sarafina Fiber Art and The Vintage Fox — and enjoy a display of unusual vehicles. Cheer on local steeplechase jockeys James Slater, James Stieroff, Charlie Fleischmann, Nick Carter, Jeb Hannum, Ivan Dowling and Todd McKennaas they attempt to translate their considerable riding skills to the game of polo.

After the match, a barbeque with an open bar and a live band begins at 5:30pm.

Tickets are $40 per person in advance and $45 at the gate. For more information or to buy tickets, visit
www.chasinforchalfin.com. In the event of rain, a rain date will be announced on the website.

Chasin for Chalfin was established to  help with fundraising for Jake Chalfin, who was severely injured when he fell at the Blue Ridge Fall Races in Berryville, Va., on September 18, 2010. As a result of his extensive injuries, Jake is now paralyzed from the chest down and is facing significant long-term expenses in excess of $1 million that is needed for his care.
