Rehoboth Beach Celebrates Art All Weekend May 7-9

Share

This year, Rehoboth Beach has expanded its Paint Out event to include an entire weekend of arts-related events. Organized by Rehoboth Beach Main Street and the Rehoboth Art League, the events are sponsored by Community Bank Delaware.

Thirty regional juried artists will be “painting out” from dawn to dusk May 7 and 8 in 13 locations that include parts of the boardwalk, downtown Rehoboth, Silver Lake and Gordon’s Pond.

On Saturday May 8 downtown will be brushed with an art vibe. In addition to the artists working outdoors, the beach blocks of Baltimore and Wilmington avenues will be filled with the bright tents and wares of local 3-D and photography artisans from 10am to 5pm. Artists include Michelle Aquilino, Norman Bell, SherryLee Biele, Tracy Bollinger, Janet Brunory, Justin Cavagnaro, Geri Dibiase, Margaret Eberts, Kevin Fleming, Roger Galbraith, Trudy Girton-Fox, Judy Hagen, Celeste Kelly, Marti Marino, Jane Mayer, Jeffery-Todd Moore, Gina Scarnati, Pat Staby, Donna Vreeland, and Barbara Warden.

Also on May 8, MOSAIC’s Second Saturday Art Walk will occur from 3pm to 6 pm. For more information on the downtown galleries in MOSAIC, see mosaicrehoboth.com. Maps for both the Paint Out areas and the MOSAIC galleries will be available in the street festival areas.

Impressed by the work of the Paint Out artists? Try your hand at Plein Air on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 9, from 10am to 11:30am at the bandstand. It’s part of the amateur Speed Sketch event with prizes for a variety of age groups and subjects. All are welcome; bring your own art supplies and creativity.

The Paint Awards and Exhibit Reception take place Sunday afternoon, May 9, from 2pm to 5pm at the Rehoboth Theatre of the Arts, Baltimore Avenue. Enjoy wine, mimosas and light fare ($20 per person) and live jazz while you shop for your favorite painting. This year’s awards judge is Ryan Grover, curator of the Biggs Museum of American Art.
