Highlighting the high energy and heat of summer, Metz’s photographs are somewhat unconventional and even abstract, typically focusing on mundane images that usually would be passed by without a second glance. ?Summer Streets? is Metz’s first solo exhibition since he graduated cum laude in 2005 from the University of Delaware with an Honors B.S. degree in Apparel Design. Born in northwestern Pennsylvania, he now resides near Rehoboth Beach, Del.

On Friday, June 7, the Newark Arts Alliance hosts an opening reception from 6pm ? 8pm. During this time, Metz will give a Gallery Talk, speaking about some of the key images in the exhibition as well as explaining the inspiration and implications of the works. This event is free, open to the public, and light refreshments will be served.

Supported in part by grants from the Delaware Division of the Arts, the Newark Arts Alliance has been serving the community of Newark for 20 years, since 1993. Aimed at providing the citizens of greater Newark with the opportunity to explore and display their creativity while also participating in cultural events that build community, it presents several exhibitions each year that showcase local artists. In addition, they offer a wide variety of art classes for students of all ages and skill levels as well as displaying and selling art in the Terry Foreman Gallery and the Gallery Shop.

The Newark Arts Alliance is open Tuesday to Sunday from 11:00am-3:00pm with extended hours on Thursdays, 11:00am ? 6:00pm. Admission is free. For more information about the Newark Arts Alliance, call 302.266.7266, email info@newarkartsalliance.org or visit, http://www.newarkartsalliance.org.
