Come share the peace, love and yappiness at Woofstock as the Delaware Humane Association hosts its 20th Annual Walk for the Animals –- a real reason to celebrate. Join in the fun and wear your best tie-dye, headband, love beads, and granny glasses, all for a great cause. It”ll be groovy!
The (DHA) invites you and your four-legged friends to step back in time to 1969 at the walk, which will take place on Sunday, October 3 at Banning Park on Maryland Avenue in Wilmington, rain or shine.
Registration and check-in begins at 10:30am; the one-mile walk starts at 11:30am. Walkers are welcome to bring their dog(s), but all dogs must be leashed. Walk as an individual, or gather your friends, family and coworkers and form a team. The registration fee for adults is $35. Kids ages 6 to 16 (accompanied by an adult) are just $5 and children 5 and under can attend for free.
In addition to the walk, spend the day enjoying musical entertainment from WSTW, canine games, photo booth, and cool raffle items. Vendors with animal-related items, rescue groups, and other pet related services will also be on hand. After the walk, enjoy a complimentary lunch from Leo & Jimmy’s Deli and join in the Woofstock Canine Contests, including best pet trick, best looking hippie dog, and more. Prizes will be awarded for all contest categories!
One of the most exciting events of the day will be the drawing to win a highly customized 2011 Scion xB with more than $12,500 in upgrades, designed by the Automotive Outfitters of Newark ToyotaWorld. Tickets are $35 each or $150 for a bundle of five Tickets can be purchased at Newark ToyotaWorld, Delaware Humane Association, online at dehumane.org/scionraffle or at Woofstock before the drawing. You do not need to be present to win, but you won’t want to miss a day of “peace, love and yappiness.”
