Skies clear for elegant garden-party nuptials in Wilmington.

Six years after meeting at the University of Delaware in 2016, Nick Bosavage proposed to Eileen Mee on a beach in the Dominican Republic. Wedding planning commenced not long after. “I’m type A, so I immediately created Google Drive folders, Excel sheets, the whole nine yards,” the bride laughs.

The couple toured 15 venues before landing on Wilmington’s Brantwyn Estate, part of the DuPont Country Club. “When we saw it, we knew right away that we wanted to get married there,” says Eileen. “The ceremony and cocktail hour sold us. They both have a secret-garden vibe, with lush greenery and beautiful florals everywhere.”

While the bride attended to the details, the groom worked on honeymoon plans and entertainment for the reception, choosing a DJ and a duo on saxophone and violin. An avid DIYer, Eileen handled signage, stationery and a floral setup that incorporated blooms from her own garden.

Their wedding day began with rain—not at all ideal for outdoor nuptials. About an hour before the ceremony, Brantwyn’s team asked Eileen if she’d like to move inside. “I had this gut feeling not to—and 15 minutes before our ceremony, the rain cleared,” she says. “Everything was so green and peaceful after the storm. It felt like we got married in a cloud.”

Flower girls and Eileen’s young niece led her down the aisle, where she exchanged vows in a special ceremony. “Nick gave my parents a rose and vowed to continue to care for me as they have done,” she recalls. “I gave Nick’s parents a rose and vowed the same.”

After the couple’s first time on the dance floor, guests were invited out for an anniversary dance to celebrate their own relationships. “It was so fun to see our parents, aunts, uncles and friends sharing a special moment,” Eileen says.
