Cheers to Delaware’s Children

A wine tasting, Bring Cheers to Delaware’s Children, was held on November 18 at Deerfield Fine Wines in Newark to benefit the Wilmington Flower Market, Delaware’s largest children’s charitable organization. In attendance was the Mayor of Newark, Vance A. Funk, III, who enjoyed discussing the attributes of many of the fine wines from nine regions. Also in attendance was Roger Morris, acclaimed author and blogger on wine, who lent his expertise and refined palate to the event.

Dean Cesario of Deerfield Fine Wines, host of the event, offered his guidance on the characteristics of many of the labels in his large selection of fine wines.  Many Flower Market volunteers and supporters, as well as wine enthusiasts from
the area, enjoyed learning and discovering the subtle distinctions among wines.

Karen Laughlin, this year’s general chairman of the Wilmington Flower Market, said: “It was wonderful to see so many people come out to enjoy the wine tasting. I”m sure many of the guests left with a much higher appreciation for the distinctions in wines from different regions and vintages, and many bought new labels. Each bottle purchased during the event included a contribution to the Flower Market. Thanks again to Mayor Funk for stopping in, and Roger Morris, author and blogger on fine wines.”
